Advanced Choirs - Concert Choir & Chorale
The Jefferson High School Concert Choir (SATB) and Chorale (SSAA) are advanced groups of singers achieving a high level of mastery in singing, sight reading, and musicality. Placement in Advanced Choirs is by audition. The groups rehearse daily and have some outside hours required. Students who are selected for Concert Choir and Chorale must demonstrate mature tone quality and consistent pitch accuracy; demonstrate a dedicated level of commitment and teamwork; and demonstrate a desire to work for personal growth.
Concert Choir and Chorale students will display a working knowledge of musical terms and symbols, perfect their music reading skills, refine individual vocal technique, study and perform advanced choral literature ranging from the Renaissance Period through the 21st Century, exemplify confidence and poise in advanced level concert performances, and recognize the vital role that arts play in our world.
Concert Choir and Chorale participate in three or four traditional concerts each year. They also participate in SDHSAA Large Group Contest, Solo/Ensemble Contest and sing at JHS Graduation. The groups take a rotational travel trip every other year. In the spring of 2025, they will travel to Nashville, TN.
