We are proud to be a part of a very strong tradition of high school singing in the city of Sioux Falls and in the state of South Dakota. Jefferson Choir Department is a place for anyone who loves to sing, to dance, and to be part of the family that we create. Choir will always be a community that is welcoming to all.

2024-2025 Offerings

  • Concert Choir (an auditioned advanced curricular choir - SATB grades 11-12)
  • Chorale (an auditioned advanced curricular choir - SSA grades 10-12)
  • Gold Choir (non auditioned, intermediate curricular choir - SATB 10-12 and TB grade 9)
  • Green Choir (non auditioned, beginning curricular choir - SA grade 9)
  • Declaration (an auditioned Vocal Jazz Ensemble)
  • Cantus (an auditioned Tenor-Bass lunch ensembles)
  • Aurora (an auditioned Soprano-Alto lunch ensemble)
  • Legacy (an auditioned, competitive show choir - SATB)
  • Revelry (an auditioned, competitive show choir - SSA)

Curricular choirs will participate in 3 or 4 concerts each year and Large Group Contest. All choir students will be given the opportunity to participate in Solo/Small Ensemble Contest - Concert Choir and Chorale students are expected to participate in at least one event.

Advanced Choirs will have rotational travel trip every other year and perform at graduation each spring and additional performances may be added.

The music and theatre departments will work together to produce a musical each spring. 
Optional opportunities that will also be offered:
  • All State Chorus (by audition from Advanced Choirs)
  • SD Senior Honor Choir (by audition for 10-11 grade students)
  • SD Junior Honor Choir (by audition for 9th grade students)
  • All State Show Choir (by audition from Show Choirs)
