Concert Choir
The Jefferson High School Concert Choir is a group of singers achieving a high level of mastery in singing, sight reading, and musicality. Placement in Concert Choir is by audition. The group rehearses daily and has some outside hours required. Students who are selected for Concert Choir must demonstrate mature tone quality; demonstrate a dedicated level of commitment and teamwork; and demonstrate a desire to work for personal growth.
Concert Choir will display a working knowledge of musical terms and symbols, perfect their music reading skills, refine individual vocal technique, study and perform advanced choral literature ranging from the Renaissance Period through the 20th Century, exemplify confidence and poise in advanced level concert performances, and recognize the vital role that arts play in our world.
Concert Choir participates in four traditional concerts each year. They also participate in SDHSAA Large Group Contest, Solo/Ensemble Contest, sing at JHS Graduation, and host a Dinner and Variety Show as a fundraiser for rotational travel. The group takes a rotational travel trip every other year.
